Flood Update
I just talked to my dad, and apparently things in Ottawa have finally started to get a bit better. Power has been restored and relief crews are getting back to work. He called me in a bit of a rush because he and many people from the church were going from home to home helping the people who were affected the most by the flood. One family had 44 inches of water in their basement, another had water completely filling their basement a a few inches on their first floor. Several people who live in the closer into the city limits have their houses completely in-accessible except by boat. I managed to find some pictures here so I'll throw those up, there was also a video that the Toledo News has posted here. My dad that NBC nightly news was in Ottawa this morning, and that I just might see him tonight carrying wedding clothes out of the back of our church which is surrounded by water, but luckily the sandbags protected it from major damage. He also said the church will be meeting at my family's house on sunday morning for a quick breakfast, short service, and then back out to help. Hooray for the local church.

On a serious note...
As many of you know, I'm originally from Ottawa, OH. I called home this afternoon to check in with my parents, just the usual chit chat. For some reason, there was no answer and the machine didn't pick up. I called both of my parents cell phones...no answer. During the middle of the Oasis Leaders meeting, I got a call from my mother. They didn't answer their phones because they were down at the City Highway garage filling sand bags with rescue workers and volunteers trying to help Ottawa recover from the worst flood in it's recorded history. I had no idea this was even happening. My parents are currently housing some folks who's apartment is completely underwater. Due to some recent rains in the area the Blanchard River, which runs through downtown Ottawa, has been rising and rising as the rainwater drains and other rivers flow into it. Over 500 people have been removed from their homes in our small town and the governer has declared a state of emergency. My family is without power, and probably will remain that way until the electrical substation ceases to be flooded. My family is doing alright, especially since we just recently had the water proofing around our home redone. But may of our neighbors have been bailing water and most people in downtown Ottawa can only get around by boat. I included some photo's I've taken from the Toledo Blade and the Lima News. Please pray for the folks back home who have been displaced by this, and the recovery efforts that are underway.

Excuse me?!!!
Rolling Stone magazine just released their list of the 20 best live bands playing right now. After reading it, I thought of several remarks I could make the would indicate to you, the reader, how upset I am about this. I chose to go with the following:
How many drunken babies does it take operate the dart board full of band names that they apparently used to pick this list? Because clearly no one actually put thought into this, it can only be total random selection.
For a more exhausting listing of comments I wanted to make about this article, please see me in person. And p.s.-if you agree'd with this list, don't bother commenting, because we won't be friends anymore.
