4th Times a Charm

So I'm taking a night class on thursdays. It starts at 6 and runs til....well, whenever Dr. Erdel decides to stop, which is sometimes a bit of a hassle with New Community, but man it's been interesting. This is actually the fourth time I've been registered for this class. The first time, I dropped it because I thought I didn't have enough time to do the reading (only 2 books) and the other two times I had to drop it because of scheduling conflicts. Being that it's my last semester, I don't really have a choice now. But I will say, this class is fun. It's a seminar class for all graduating seniors. It's basically a guided discussion forum about some interesting ethical life issues and such. I used to call it "get your head out of your butt before you leave the bubble 101" but I've since toned down the sarcasm. Anyway, we've talked about some really interesting things in that class. Last night we chatted a bit about the books of the bible, adding books to the protestant scriptures, the authority of the book of Ruth, we heard a story about an Oxford logic scholar who wrote a book about how Napolean didn't actually exist, as a joke, during the Napoleonic Wars and how people actually believed him, how perhaps the worlds leading persian scholar teaches at the University where my entire family has attended and currently does attend, and how recently a new bible has come out with a third testament. This thrid testament is a new revelation in 2000 that condones homosexuality and a myriad of other things. I was told that there's actually an online transcript of the third testament, but every time I've tried to look at it, the site has been blocked. Probably for good reason, but I'd still kinda like to see what it says. But anyway, all that is to say that the class that I've dreaded sitting through for the last 3 years, I'm now thoroughly enjoying.

I'm glad you are enjoying your last semester. I enjoyed that class as well. I had it with Matt Getz and several other fun friends.

Wow....it's a good feeling for a parent to read that a son is enjoying a college class. That's good news! (Also, I'm trying to figure out why I can leave an anonymous comment on your blogsite but not on Steve's.....)

Anyway, hang in there, Jeff. You can finish that degree on move on with the rest of your life.

Love,
Mom
